Savaan suffers from a lower limb deformity, making it impossible for him to walk or stand on his own. He is lucky to have parents committed to supporting his education despite financial difficulty. Currently in 12th standard in school for a science degree, Savaan’s tuition is extremely expensive. Due to his inability to walk without assistance, his family must pay an additional cost for a bus pass in order for him to continue his studies. His parents, like many others in rural areas, work half of the year in the sugarcane factory and the other half as wage labors on local farms. Because Savaan’s tuition is so costly, his parents have been unable to support both his education and afford medical treatment. His family came to CRHP in hopes that they would be able to find treatment for their son. After coming to a CRHP Surgical Camp, Savaan is on his way to walking on his own and gaining a greater sense of independence. He is looking forward to joining his friends in sports competitions and finishing his degree.
