Aditi was burned resulting in injuries over 70% of her body. After the incident, she was admitted to a private hospital for a month. Her medical bills started piling up, and within the one month, her parents expended two lakhs (2,900 USD) on her recovery treatment. Aditi’s family lives in a temporary house and are below the poverty line. The expense of treatment became too great, and her parents had to borrow money from various money-lenders, employers, and family members. Because of the scars from her burns, Aditi had to drop out of school after having completed only to the eighth standard. She is unable to use either of her hands to write, clothe, or feed herself. They learned about CRHP’s surgical camp while receiving treatment at a private hospital. Since completing two surgeries at CRHP, Aditi’s confidence, happiness, and smile fills every room she enters.
