Shruti was born with polydactyl hands and feet. Although this has been a persistent problem throughout her childhood, her parents did not have the money to seek treatment. With three daughters and both parents as wage laborers, it is difficult enough to fulfill basic household responsibilities and to make sure that there is enough food for the family. From a very early age, Shruti has been subject to bullying. When she began going to school, the other kids insulted and teased her. Despite their contempt, she refused to let their bullying prevent her from receiving her education. As she got older, the extra digits on her feet made it increasingly difficult to walk. Her family learned they could receive free of cost treatment at CRHP. Shruti has now completed 3 surgeries at CRHP. Her smile, confidence, and loving temperament extends to every person she meets.
